Unlicensed and Unstoppable
Talk about your award-winning web series “Unlicensed and Unstoppable.”

Jordan:
Unlicensed and Unstoppable is about Imani Prescott who, after going to therapy for the first time and hearing some harsh truths, starts her own underground and unlicensed therapy clinic convinced she could do a better job. The idea comes out of my own experience with therapy and trying to "therapize" my friends and family. I thought there was a huge opportunity there to capture the difference between professional help and your friends' advice plus the MANY attitudes surrounding mental health in the black community in a way that feels fun and real. Production was constant shots in the dark. I started months before my film program relying on YouTube and film media to teach me what to do. Luckily, I found actors and friends of friends in film/media that believed in me/the story enough to take a chance. Looking back, it definitely wasn't a Hollywood level production, but it was fun, it was creative, and we pulled it together.

Storytelling is my north star.

It Was All a Dream
Discuss why you chose to pursue film and what keeps you motivated.

Jordan:
The moment I knew I wanted to creative direct was in high school watching old 80's and 90's Thierry Mugler fashion shows. The idea of creating something that transported people, made them feel surprised and awe and joy and the full range of emotions in a way that stuck with them - that's what I wanted. I tried every artistic outlet that interested me and have started finding my groove in film and media.

The ideas come on their own. Once you allow yourself to be a gateway for ideas, they just come to you. Even if you don't pursue every idea, write them down. Don't let doubt or insecurity stop you from even entertaining the thought. Once you have an idea you believe in, bring on people that believe in it too who are passionate in what they're contributing. That synergy will keep you motivated to see the project through because it's not just your idea anymore - it's people's time and talents, it's an audience that needed that laugh, it becomes a gift you have to finish for others
